Read the first worksheet of an XLSX workbook
Choose an .xlsx file and review the sheet name, dimensions, headers, missing cells and preview. A workbook is a ZIP-based document with multiple parts. This reader resolves the first sheet and its stored cell values; it does not open a full spreadsheet application.
Macros and formulas are not executed. Other sheets, charts, styles and spreadsheet editing are outside this tool. A displayed cached formula value may be stale or absent.
What to check
- Use .xlsx, not an old .xls binary workbook or a password-protected file.
- If the wrong sheet appears, save the desired sheet as the first worksheet or export it to CSV.
- Compare stored formula results with the source workbook, especially if formulas were not recalculated before saving.

Does this upload my code or files?
No. Processing happens locally in your browser. Runtime tools download Python itself, but your source is not sent to our server.
Why can the first Python run take longer?
The browser downloads and starts the Python WebAssembly runtime. Later runs in the same tab are normally much faster.
Can I stop a program that takes too long?
Yes. Runtime tools show a Stop button while Python is working. Stopping terminates the isolated worker and a clean runtime starts when needed.
