Information stored on your device

The editor stores your working HTML, optional CSS, optional JavaScript, theme preference and local version history in your browser's local storage. This makes it possible to return to your work after refreshing the page. Draft code is not intentionally transmitted to our servers by the editor.

You can remove this information by clearing the site's browser data. Importing, editing, previewing and exporting are performed in your browser.

Technical and hosting data

Like most websites, our hosting and security providers may process limited technical information required to deliver and protect the service. This can include an IP address, browser type, requested URL, approximate region, timestamps, security signals and diagnostic logs. We use this information to operate, secure and improve the site.

Optional learner accounts and course progress

Courses remain available without an account. If you choose to create a learner account, we store your name, email address, a securely hashed password, session records and course progress so completed chapters, exams, XP and streaks can be restored on another device. We do not store your plain-text password.

Account progress does not include editor drafts, imported files, generated downloads or tool output. You can sign out and continue with browser-only progress at any time. To request account deletion or a copy of your stored account data, contact hello@html-onlineviewer.com from the account email address.

Anonymous product and performance measurements

We record limited aggregate events such as which tool or guide page was opened, whether a tool action completed or failed, whether import or export was selected, whether a guide led to a tool or course, course onboarding or lesson starts, optional useful/not-useful feedback, and Core Web Vitals performance measurements. These events help us find broken workflows and prioritise improvements.

The measurement event does not include editor contents, uploaded file contents, file names, generated output, learner names, form text, advertising identifiers or a user account identifier. The receiving endpoint is same-origin, rate limited and does not set a measurement cookie.

Optional cloud PDF, screenshot and rendered HTML conversions

Most tools run entirely on your device. If you deliberately select Download PDF for pasted HTML, or convert a public URL to PDF, PNG or rendered HTML, the submitted HTML or public URL is sent to our Cloudflare-hosted rendering service. It is processed to create the requested file and is not intentionally stored by HTML Online Viewer as a document.

These cloud actions are clearly labelled and rate limited. Do not submit confidential HTML, private-network addresses, passwords, session cookies or pages that you are not permitted to process. System Print / PDF remains available as an on-device alternative for pasted HTML.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We may use Google AdSense and other advertising partners to fund the service. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on those visits.

Visitors can manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. Visitors may also review industry opt-out choices at aboutads.info. If additional advertising vendors are enabled, their identities and relevant choices will be disclosed through the consent experience or this policy.

Consent and regional choices

Where required, visitors will be shown a consent message before advertising technologies use cookies or personal data for relevant purposes. Advertising for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will use a Google-certified consent management platform when required. Visitors covered by that experience can revisit their privacy choices through the consent controls provided on the site.

External content and links

Code placed in the preview can request external images, fonts, scripts or other resources. Those third parties receive the network information ordinarily sent by a browser request. Only preview code you trust. Links to other sites are governed by those sites' own privacy practices.

Children's privacy

The service is a general-purpose developer and learning tool and is not directed to children under 13. Learners under 13 should use guest mode with a parent or guardian rather than create an account. If we learn that an account contains personal information collected from a child under 13 without appropriate permission, we will delete it.

Changes and contact
