COMMON QUESTIONS

Image Compressor FAQ

How can I compress an image without uploading it?

Choose the image in this tool and select Compress images. The browser decodes and re-encodes it locally; the file is not sent to our server.

Why can a compressed image become larger?

A small or already optimized image may grow after re-encoding. Try a lower quality or WebP output, and keep the original whenever it is smaller.

Does compression remove image metadata?

Yes. Re-encoding through the browser canvas normally removes EXIF and other embedded metadata, which can also reduce file size.
