Decoding the encoded greeting returns Hello from Kampala 👋. Encoding a file produces a representation of its bytes, not a link to a hosted copy.

Python Base64 Encoder & Decoder
Encode Unicode text or local files as Base64, and decode Base64 back to readable UTF-8 text directly in your browser.

A WORKED TASK
Encode Unicode text and decode it back
Encode the Kampala greeting, including its emoji, then use the result as input for Decode. Base64 represents bytes using text characters. This tool first encodes ordinary text as UTF-8, so the round trip can preserve letters and emoji rather than treating each character as a single byte.
Base64 is not encryption, compression or password protection. Anyone with the encoded data can decode it. This page’s decode result is readable text, not a general binary-file reconstruction tool.
What to check
- Paste Base64 data, not an entire data: URL, when decoding.
- Whitespace can be ignored in a Base64 input, but invalid characters or incomplete data need correction.
- Decoded binary bytes may not be valid UTF-8 text. A text-decoding error does not necessarily mean the original file was damaged.

- Processing
- Code and supported files are processed in this browser tab. Runtime tools download Python WebAssembly, but do not intentionally upload your source.
- Important limitation
- The browser runtime is intentionally isolated and may not include every desktop package, system command or network feature. Verify production programs in their target Python environment.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Python Base64 Tools FAQ
Does this upload my code or files?
No. Processing happens locally in your browser. Runtime tools download Python itself, but your source is not sent to our server.
Why can the first Python run take longer?
The browser downloads and starts the Python WebAssembly runtime. Later runs in the same tab are normally much faster.
Can I stop a program that takes too long?
Yes. Runtime tools show a Stop button while Python is working. Stopping terminates the isolated worker and a clean runtime starts when needed.
