Forward conversion starts with const data = and preserves the student, scores and active values. Reverse conversion gives formatted JSON without the assignment or final semicolon.

A WORKED TASK
Wrap JSON in a JavaScript assignment, or unwrap it
Choose JSON → JavaScript to turn the student JSON into a const data assignment. In the reverse direction, use an assignment whose value is valid JSON: double-quoted keys and strings, JSON booleans and no expressions. The converter removes the simple assignment wrapper before parsing the data.
This deliberately does not evaluate JavaScript object expressions. It supports JSON-compatible values, not every valid JavaScript object literal. It cannot serialize functions, undefined or circular objects.
What to check
- Object shorthand, single-quoted strings, functions and computed property names are not supported.
- Store very large numeric identifiers as strings to avoid browser number precision loss.
- Use the JSON formatter when you only need indentation rather than an assignment.
TESTED & REVIEWED

- Reviewed by
- HTML Online Viewer project

- Processing
- Ordinary processing happens in this browser tab; the tool does not intentionally upload your source.
- Important limitation
- JavaScript checks and transformations cannot prove that application logic is correct. Test the result in its real project before publishing.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLE
Start with a small JSON ↔ JS Object example
The built-in sample makes the accepted input visible before you use your own project data.Example input
{"student":"Amina","scores":[82,91,76],"active":true}Run the sample first, then change one value at a time so each result remains easy to explain.
What this example demonstrates
Convert valid JSON into a JavaScript assignment, or unwrap a simple assignment containing JSON-compatible data. Source is parsed as JSON, never executed.
Keep the original file, review the generated result and test production code in its real application before publishing.
COMMON QUESTIONS
JSON ↔ JS Object FAQ
Is JSON ↔ JS Object free?
